This is one of the latest fitness trends in the group exercise world. Where Pilates classes focus on core work to sculpt your body – the Barre classes really get into chiseling your physique! Pam incorporates both toning and cardio elements to deliver a great exercise for all levels to burn calories, define muscles and feel good. The work tends to be progressive with each class allowing students to challenge themselves more. Since many of us aren’t ballerinas but strong, older athletes, Pam changes it up frequently so that the “lifting and tightening” sequences have intermittent stretching and breaks.
The program is divided into several areas of concentration:
- Warm Up (low impact cardio)
- Arm Work
- Quadriceps
- Glutes & Hamstrings
- Core (some of the classes are seated in chairs to allow for variations for students with neck or upper back issues)
- Stretching
